Welcome to

Passow Elementary School!

Welcome

Passow Elementary School is a kindergarten through fifth grade institution and is part of Franklin Park School District 84, located in the village of Franklin Park.  We have approximately 390 students enrolled.  The majority of Passow students live within walking distance of the school, and for those who live further, bus services are an option.

We have three sections at each grade level kindergarten through fifth.  We also provide special education services with resource and self contained programs.  In addition to classroom and special education teachers, students are served by specialists in physical education, music, art, computers, library, English as a Second Language, and social work.

The teachers at Passow are highly qualified, dedicated professionals.  They work hard to ensure a very positive and supportive educational environment for the Passow children.  We have an excellent curriculum for reading, math, writing, science, social studies, computers, art, physical education, and music.

Thank you for visiting the Passow web site.  We are happy to share all of the exciting and educational programs provided by the school.  If you have any questions, please call 847-455-6781.

Passow Elementary School is part of the Leyden Area Special Education Cooperative (LASEC). The special education programs at Passow consist of a continuum of services, which include an inclusion program for students with learning disabilities, as well as speech/language services. Additional special education programs are available through LASEC.

Emergency Closing Information

Reporting Absences

On any day that a child cannot attend school, a parent or guardian must call the school office to excuse the child, stating the reason for the absence. This check on attendance lets the school know that an absent child is safe at home and avoids the need for a note upon the child's return to school.

Parents are encouraged to call the absence line,455-0460, the evening before or the morning of, to report a student's absence. Please leave the requested information on the absence line. Calls to the absence line must be made by 8:00 a.m.. If calling after 8:00 a.m., please call the Passow School office at 455-6781.

In the case of an extended illness it will not be necessary to call the school every day; however, the school may require verification from a physician. If the illness exceeds two weeks, provisions for continuing the child's instruction, including possible tutorial help, will be made. A child absent from compulsory school attendance without valid cause will be considered truant. Habitual truants are subject to legal action.
