The School Improvement Process in Franklin Park School
District 84
This annual state-mandated school report card contains information about your
child’s school as well as information about our district and public schools
throughout Illinois.
Every public school in the state of Illinois is required to develop an annual
plan of school improvement. These school improvement plans are developed after
teachers and administrators have reviewed ISAT testing results from the
preceding school years. In addition, student progress on the Iowa Test of Basic
Skills (ITBS), which is administered in grades one through eight, is reviewed
and summarized for school improvement planning purposes. The most important
assessment information, however, is the ongoing local assessment administered by
classroom teachers at all grade levels. This classroom-based assessment is
directly linked to the curriculum in Franklin Park District 84.
School Improvement Plans, which are completed annually by each school’s
school improvement team, are presented by each building principal to the Board of Education
at the annual school board planning meeting. Each school develops specific improvement goals and strategies to
address areas of need identified through the internal review process. These
improvement plans focus on student achievement in the fundamental learning areas
and learning standards which have been developed by the Illinois State Board of
Education. Survey information from both parents and district staff related to
school climate and learning opportunities within each school are also integrated
into the internal review process.
If you have any questions about information contained in this school report
card or the school improvement planning process, please contact the principal at
your child’s school. Printed copies of the school and district report cards are
